Who we are
Teacher Talks is a professional-development conference series for language teachers throughout Vietnam and the S.E Asia region. Our half-day events run twice a year at RMIT University’s Saigon South, Da Nang and Hanoi campuses, as well as nationally online, bringing together educators across regions and disciplines to share dialogue and best practice.
Our specific focus is English-language teaching education development: training teachers to help students prepare for success in this globalised world.
Facilitated by RMIT Vietnam’s School of English & University Pathway through the support of industry sponsors and regional colleagues, Teacher Talks is a non-profit enterprise. Our aim is simple: to enhance the quality of language teaching in Vietnam, improving the lives of teachers and the students they serve.

Event Structure
Teacher Talks events include keynote presentations, breakout workshops, poster sessions, roundtables, panel sessions, and more, depending on the theme. Each event is catered, with snacks and refreshments throughout. Popular conference features such as attendance certificates, group photos, and lucky draws are also included.
Teacher Talks conferences are held in Saigon, Da Nang and Hanoi, running first at RMIT’s Saigon South campus, with sessions in the following weeks at the Da Nang and then Hanoi campus. We are able to pivot online if necessary, and we ran our 2020 and 2021 events nationally through an online platform.
Speakers will be selected through sponsor recommendations, calls for proposals, and special invitations to VIP headliners as well as local school partners.
Leadership & Promotion
Teacher Talks is an initiative born of a successful RMIT-supported speaker series called TESOL Talks. TESOL Talks series ran for two years in Saigon and six months in Hanoi, with nine successful events attracting hundreds of attendees.
Teacher Talks has been building on the success of this earlier venture through social-media engagement, network outreach, and targeted marketing campaigns. Based on the success of previous events and the capacity of conference facilities, as well as our successful online series, target attendance in 2021 across the three locations and online is around 900.
Teacher Talks is a non-profit enterprise owned and managed by the School of English & University Pathways at RMIT Vietnam. Its sustainable model includes funding for high-profile catered events, a robust online presence, and dedicated staff members to plan events and maintain operations and engagement (checking and responding to email, interacting with participants on Facebook, managing website, etc.).
