Who we are
Teacher Talks is a professional development conference series for language teachers across Vietnam and the Southeast Asia region. Events are hosted at RMIT University’s campuses in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, and Hanoi, and have also been delivered nationally online, bringing educators together to share dialogue, practice, and professional growth.
Our focus is on English language teaching and teacher development — equipping teachers with the skills and strategies needed to help students succeed in an increasingly globalised world.
Facilitated by RMIT Vietnam’s School of English & University Pathways (SEUP), and supported by industry sponsors and regional collaborators, Teacher Talks is a non-profit initiative. Our aim is simple: to strengthen the quality of English language teaching in Vietnam, supporting both the teachers who lead classrooms and the learners whose futures depend on them.

Presenters
Teacher Talks features a mix of voices from across the English language teaching community. Presenters are invited from schools in our wider network, RMIT academic staff, and our publisher partners. In some years, additional speakers may be selected through calls for proposals, while at other times programs are built through targeted invitations.
Event Structure
Teacher Talks events are hosted in Hanoi, Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City, bringing together teachers from across Vietnam for a day of professional learning and community connection.
Programs typically include:
-
interactive presentations and practical workshops,
-
contributions from invited speakers, publisher partners, and guest presenters from schools in our wider network,
-
opportunities for teachers to share ideas and build professional connections, and
-
popular features such as attendance certificates, group photos, and lucky draws.
Teacher Talks has been delivered in both in-person and online formats, ensuring it remains accessible and responsive to teachers’ needs. Each event is designed to highlight innovative, student-centered approaches to learning and teaching, while strengthening RMIT’s engagement with the broader English language teaching community.
Leadership & Promotion
Teacher Talks is an initiative born of a successful RMIT-supported speaker series called TESOL Talks. TESOL Talks ran for two years in Saigon and six months in Hanoi, with nine successful events attracting hundreds of attendees.
Building on this foundation, Teacher Talks has been running in its current format since 2018, growing steadily through social media engagement, network outreach, and targeted promotion.
Teacher Talks is led by the School of English & University Pathways (SEUP) Professional Learning team, with a focus on expanding the event to reach more teachers, explore broader subjects and areas of focus, and collaborate with a wider range of partners. This growth is aimed at better addressing the changing needs of learning and teaching English in Vietnam and the region.
